I can't help thinking of Krakauer 's "Into the Wild."
I think you would really enjoy this book, if you have not read it already. The movie is not quite as good as the book but is still well worth watching.
What about Joe Simpson? "Touching the Void" is absolutely stunning (both the movie and the book), and some of the short stories ("The Beckoning Silence") are also quite good.

Funny you mention it. One of my favorite books and movies. I agree, the book is by far better. I like most of Krakauers books.

beautiful Mike. Thoreau like...you should check out Derrick Jensen, his work is great.
ReplyDeleteGive me a wildness whose glance no civilization can endure-Thoreau
ReplyDeleteJohn I can't say this wasn't partly inspired by my recent Thoreau readings.
